T�e im- <br />balanca was to 6e made up by early January when tne usual 6n/ <br />40 alloCation Of time (M,W,F - New RTighton, T,Th - M�unds <br />Viev) will resume. <br />CONTRACTED RF.MOVAL OF TREES <br />Precision Tree Service, the 1984 tree removal rontractor, re- <br />moved eig�ty-nine 189) diseasetl elm and oak [rees. Six !61 <br />potentially hazardous trees were also removed. Tne averaye <br />removal cost for diseased trees was 589.12 compareA to 588.32 <br />last year. <br />TRE6 AND SHRUB PLANTING ON PUBLIC LAND <br />One hundced twenty-seven (1271 new trees were planted in <br />Mounds View Parks in 1984. A total of nineteen (191 diEferent <br />species was represented. Nine (9) trees were dunateA to the <br />parks by residents.; five (5) oE these were spruce trees be- <br />taeen 7 feet and 10 feet tall. Most of the above treey were <br />planted in SLlver View and City Hall Parks. <br />One �untlred five shrubs were pla�ted, most in the anove twu <br />parks. <br />1985 TREE AND LANDSCAPE PLANTING <br />The planting of about two hundred fifty (250) trees and shrubs <br />is planned for selecteA areas of Silver View anA Ci[y Hall <br />Park. Additional replacement [rees will be planted at sites <br />t�at lost trees to winter kill and vandalicm, Twenty (201 to <br />thirty (30) trees are scheduled to be moved from the nursery <br />in S�oceview to selected sites in parks. <br />FORESTRY PROGRAM PUBLIC RELATIONS <br />One of the most visible cesults of the forestry proyram coulA <br />be thB Ttee City U.S.A, award wnic� will be accepted by the <br />City of Mounds View for the thicd time in 1985. This nation- <br />ally distriDuted award provides recognition Enr the various <br />City forestry activities.
