CLEAN UP YOUR ACT !
i
"And now that I have your undivided attention..."
Dear fellow Mounds View resident: •
Those of us living near Silver View Park enjoy its beauty all year round. However, from time-
_to-time the park needs our help. And that is what this note is all about.
As you may have noticed, a lot of refuse has accumulated around the pond over the winter.
Construction debris, windblown garbage, and just about any other variety of trash seems to settle
in around the shoreline of the pond, and be held there. In addition, some floating debris is also in
the pond.
In view of the above, I contacted Mary Saarion, Director of the City of Mounds View
Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry. What I proposed was that all of us who live near
the park would be willing to volunteer a little of our time to clean up around the pond. It seemed
to me that Saturday, May 2 would be a good date, especially since it coincides with Mounds
View Spring Clean Up Day. The City will provide plastic bags, which can be picked up on
Saturday, May 2 near the park sidewalk by our place (7401 Park View Drive, at the west end of
the pond). The bags will be available at 9:00 a.m. Collected garbage can be taken to the Silver
View Park parking lot, where the City has made arrangements to have it picked up later in the
day.
It might be a good idea to bring rakes, wheelbarrows, and any other tools that might make the
job a little easier. I will try to have a spool of twine available near the plastic bags so that some
of the debris can be bundled for easier handling.
To coordinate our efforts, erha s we could all assemble at 9:00 at the plastic bag pickup site
above, and form two groups from there, with half of us going in oppositdirections around the
pond until we meet.
Hopefully we can make this an annual event!!! The pond will be a more beautiful and safe place
for us and our families if we take an hour or two to pick it up this spring.
If we get rained out, the schedule will be moved to Saturday, May 9.
See you there!!!
Edward &Laurie Trettel
7401 Park View Drive
Mounds View, MN 55432 780-3941
(OVER)
