MEMO TO: Mary Saarion, Acting Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
111/1
FROM: Rick Wriskey, City Forester
DATE: October 14, 1986
RE: Gypsy Moth Testing Results
I am pleased to inform you that the Federal Division of Pest and Plant
Quarantine, in cooperation with the State Department of Agriculture has
verified that no male gypsy moths turned up in Mounds View traps in 1986.
These Pheremone traps were set about every 120 feet following a perimeter
around the Knollwood/Woodale neighborhood in the southwest part of the City.
111/1
This would be regarded as intensive trapping. Results of 1984 and 1985 showed
15 and 6 male moths respectively. This was thought to be indicative of a
P problem.
roblem.
The same Federal/State agencies will revert back to a less intense monitor
trapping for 1987. It is hoped that this pest, for whatever reasons, will
remain absent from our heavily oaked northern suburbs.
•
RWF/sll
cc: Donald F.
