-2- <br /> UPDATE OF RED OAK Staff indicated that a formal letter had been <br /> SCHOOL SITE FACILITY submitted to the school district by the City <br /> III/ <br /> indicating their recommendation that the Red <br /> Oak site be sold as surplus property, as no <br /> park development monies are available at this <br /> time . The school district failed to act on <br /> this issue and recommended the site be <br /> retained for possible development as a soccer <br /> site with the local soccer association being <br /> responsible for fund raising. <br /> DEPARTMENT'S ANNUAL Staff distributed copies of the 1985 annual <br /> REPORT report and requested any input or reaction to <br /> the report at the regularly scheduled April <br /> Commission meeting. <br /> AQUATICS SUPERVISOR Staff indicated that at this time they had <br /> POSITION UPDATE received over 50 applications for the <br /> Aquatics Supervisor position and hoped to <br /> complete the process in the next two weeks by <br /> having a written exercise followed by a for- <br /> mal interview for four to six candidates. <br /> Staff indicated that the joint powers agree- <br /> ment between the Cities of Mounds View and <br /> New Brighton had been formalized and that it <br /> appeared that a new Aquatics Supervisor <br /> would be on board by early May. It was <br /> further stated that Maureen Thielen had4111 <br /> accepted a new position in Japan working for <br /> a private American school. <br /> STAFF REPORT Staff indicated that they had attended the <br /> NRPA Executive Development Program in Indiana <br /> in early April and that it was a very posi- <br /> tive experience . Staff then distributed a <br /> copy of the NASA team planning exercise and <br /> the Commission took time to complete the pro- <br /> gram. In addition, staff indicated that one <br /> of the ideas that Kansas had been doing was <br /> having a volunteer "rounding up" of residen- <br /> tial water bills with the extra dollars going <br /> to park development within the city. The <br /> Commission thought this was a good idea and <br /> asked staff to develop a policy for review at <br /> the next Commission meeting. <br /> Staff also indicated that the City was in the <br /> process of becoming computerized and that the <br /> new terminals should be on line by the end of <br /> June . Staff also invited the Commission to <br /> attend the Community Education breakfast to <br /> be held at Edgewood Community Center on <br /> Thursday, April 17 at 7: 00 a.m. if at all <br /> possible . 4111 <br />
