•
-2-
In addition to the one time capital expenditures, staff would
estimate an additional $5 ,000 in annual maintenance cost to main-
tain the site which could be offset by local soccer association
usage fees.
Staff' s position on this issue is that based on the proximity of
Groveland Park , it would not be feasible for the City to retain
Red Oak school site as a park without some type of development.
Staff feels strongly that the need for improved soccer facilities
within the City have been clearly stated in the past. Should the
City Council be willing to allocate funding for the development
of the Red Oak school site, I feel the property could be well
utilized by the City residents. But, I do not feel that I can
justify, at this time, requesting the School District not sell
the site based on our current usage with plans for development
unknown.
Staff will he looking forward to your direction on this issue so
a formal staff report can be presented to the City Council on
Monday, March 3, 1986.
BKA/sll
Enclosure
S
