Citizens
are asked to choose a park tree and water it on a daily basis during the
and fall season until the ground freezes. Such
remainder of this summer
watering will help ensure the likelihood of these trees staying alive during
this drought.
The following parks have fire hydrants as water sources:
- Groveland Park
- Hillview Park
• _ Lambert Park
Random Park
- Woodcrest Park
- Greenfield Park
- Silver View Park
One must simply turn the hydrant faucet on, fill a bucket and remember to
turn the faucet off. Use the bucket to pour water slowly at the base of the
tree. Be sure that the water soaks into the ground and does not run off.
Several bucket-fulls will be necessary to adequately soak the ground so that
tree roots can absorb the water. Flower beds located under park signs need
daily watering too.
Your help in watering park trees will surely make an impact on saving the
trees. Thank you for any service that you can give.
If you have questions, please call the office at 784-3055.
Sincerely, •
Mary Saarion, Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
MS/SL
•
