MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS ,ngypp <br /> FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR 1V`� <br /> PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br /> DATE: JULY 27 , 1988 <br /> SUBJECT: LAKESIDE PARK RE-DEVELOPMENT UPDATE <br /> The Committee for the Redevelopment of Lakeside Park has met <br /> twice. A priority list of projects has been established. <br /> PRIORITY #1 <br /> Replacement of the tot lot equipment. It is planned that equipment <br /> can be chosen, ordered and installed this autumn. <br /> PRIORITY #2 <br /> Removal of the existing beachhouse and the construction of a new <br /> beachhouse by opening next summer. The beach house will include <br /> separate restrooms with a least three stalls in each, drinking <br /> fountain, first aid room ( including a bathroom) , concession area, <br /> changing rooms , public phone, shower area, storage room and possibly <br /> lockers. A beachside patio area, walkways and addition of a garage <br /> door to the existing storage building will also be included. <br /> PRIORITY #3 <br /> • Lake improvements. This includes necessary dredging, aeration and <br /> stocking of fish as per the requirements of the Department of <br /> Natural Resources ( DNR) . A fishing dock and ramp will also be <br /> constructed during this phase. This will occur over time since <br /> such projects must follow permit procedures and be in accordance <br /> with regulations enforced by the DNR. <br /> PRIORITY #4 <br /> Activity area facilities. As monies become available, such <br /> facilities as sandcourt volleyball , trailway system, additional <br /> picnic shelter (with restroom facilities , water and electricity) , <br /> parking lot renovation, bocceball court, horseshoe pits and croquet <br /> field will be developed. <br /> Please advise staff as to the amount of participation the Council <br /> wishes to have in the process of re-development of Lakeside Park. <br /> The money is available now and the committee would like to complete <br /> as much of the re-development as possible before next year ' s <br /> swimming season which begins in June. <br /> Are informational updates sufficient or does Council wish to <br /> officially approve each development phase? The Spring Lake Park <br /> City Council meets alternate weeks as the Mounds View City Council , <br /> therefore Council approval by both Cities may take two to four <br /> • weeks. <br /> MS/SL <br />
