MEMO TO: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> • FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR <br /> PARKS , RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br /> DATE: OCTOBER 25 , 1988 <br /> SUBJECT: USE OF CITY HALL PARK <br /> The number of City Hall Park users for April through October <br /> totalled 24 , 069. This is a conservative estimate derived from user <br /> permits and organized leagues. This does not include drop-in, <br /> unorganized activity which occurs on a daily basis. <br /> Here is a list of organized activities: <br /> *Five softball tournaments at approximately 320 <br /> players per tournament equals 1 , 600 participants. <br /> Conservative estimation of spectators. <br /> City Hall softball fields accommodates 16 teams (or <br /> approximately 320 players ) for league play on a weekly <br /> basis , for 12 weeks , Monday - Thursday 7 ,680 <br /> City Hall fields were used by teams on Monday - Sunday an <br /> average of two practices/two fields , seven days per week <br /> for five weeks 2 ,800 <br /> • Saturday and Sunday practises , two per day/two fields for <br /> tor six weeks 960 <br /> Sandlot volleyball courts hosted the summer volleyball 256 <br /> league and tournaments <br /> The soccer field hosted five mites soccer teams, <br /> approximately 90 players and coaches, for games <br /> and practices 1 , 440 <br /> City Hall fields hosted the "On the Ball" program <br /> 360 <br /> **City Hall Park hosts the annual "Festival- in the Park" <br /> celebratidn. <br /> Fall softball accommodates four teams of 20 players and 4i)0 <br /> spectators times five weeks <br /> sub-total 13 ,896 <br /> Here is a chronological list of permit use of City Hall Park <br /> facilities in 1988 : <br /> DATE: EVENT: NO.
