MOUNDS VIEW Exhibit A <br /> • Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> March 24, 1999, 6:30 pm <br /> Minutes <br /> Commissioners present: Frank Silvis, Sherry Gunn, Gary Stevenson, and Rob Marty <br /> (Council liason). <br /> Commissioners absent: Stan McDonald, Pam Starr, Dave Long, and Mary Benz. <br /> Guest present: John Hammerschimdt(Bridges Golf Course General Manager) <br /> Staff present: Terri Blattenbauer(YMCA) <br /> Meeting called to order at 6:35 pm. <br /> Sherry shared an opening thought about a commercial and opening a box of crayons. The <br /> meaning is that we are all special. She also shared an editorial written by a parent. <br /> A motion was made to approve the minutes from February by Sherry with a second to the <br /> motion by Gary. <br /> • John Hammershcmidt, General Manager of Bridges Golf Course was invited to talk about <br /> plans for the golf course. A few of the topics included, the possibility of placing <br /> billboards on 118 to help with debt,moving the compost from Arden Park to the golf <br /> course,the wetlands study, and time for questions by the Commissioners. <br /> Terri updated the commission on some items from the February meeting. Steve Dazenski <br /> is securing a cost estimate for path lighting for sand volleyball and softball at City Hall. <br /> The subject of paving the trails at Silverview will be an agenda item for the April 5 <br /> council work session in regards to notifying the affected residents. The commission had <br /> suggested the move of Woodcrest playground equipment to Random Park. It was <br /> recommended by Public Works to move the equipment elsewhere due to several reasons, <br /> including, color scheme, space, as well as others. The commission would like to continue <br /> pursuing the move to Random Park. The equipment may be difficult to move from the <br /> footings, however, P.W. Department will attempt to salvage what they can. Discussion <br /> moved to adding a trail system along Silver Lake Road to Count Road I, also, along <br /> Highway 10. A bridge over Highway 10 was also discussed, as well as adding a culvert <br /> at Silverview. These items could potentially be apart of the Park dedication plan. <br /> Discussion and update on these items will be continued at the April meeting. <br /> Terri gave an update of programming at the Community Center and the Parks and <br /> Recreation programs for Spring (Exhibit A-1 attached). Spring programs begin the week <br /> of March 29. A Marketing Plan is being developed for MVCC and P & R Department, a <br /> • refrigerator is being donated by Steve's Appliance.
