• MOUNDS VIEW Exhibit B Parks and Recreation Commission February 10, 1999 - Special Meeting Minutes Commissioners present: Frank Silvis, Sherry Gunn, Gary Stevenson, and Pam Starr. Mayor Dan Coughlin also present (in place of Rob Marty). Commissioners absent: Mary Benz, Stan McDonald, Dave Long. Staff present: Terri Blattenbauer (YMCA) Meeting called to order at 6:35 pm at the Community Center. Terri pre-empted the meeting with objectives of calling the special meeting. * Make recommendation to City Council regarding Community Center additions. * Evaluate park needs and revise budget if needed. * Discuss programming ideas which would incur cost in 1999. The proposed additional expenses for the Community Center are: • *6 additional baskets $22,000 *Wall padding under baskets $3,400 *Divider curtain $8,000 *Scoreboard $3,200 *3 TV/VCR $1,950 *Kit lockers $3,000 TOTAL $41,550 Gary made a motion to approve all expenditures as an estimated budget to be expensed as part of construction costs. Seconded by Sherry. Motion carried. Original discussion had included teen games such as pool, air hockey, foosball, etc. It was decided to lease the equipment for 1 year from Dahlco, and decide at that time whether it was beneficial to lease rather than own. A refrigerator for the Sr. lounge will be explored as a donation. The sand VB court outside the Community Center will remain a future amenity. Terri will have information at the next regular Commission meeting in February regarding cost of the two outdoor basketball 1/2 courts. The long term financial plan was discussed. Park projects for 1999 include: * Picnic tables/trash receptacles $2,000 *Restore backstops at Silverview $12,000 * Hillview hockey boards $18,000 *Roofs, eaves, shingles, siding on park $20,000 buildings.
