• MOUNDS VIEW Exhibit B <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> February 10, 1999 - Special Meeting <br /> Minutes <br /> Commissioners present: Frank Silvis, Sherry Gunn, Gary Stevenson, and Pam Starr. Mayor Dan <br /> Coughlin also present (in place of Rob Marty). <br /> Commissioners absent: Mary Benz, Stan McDonald, Dave Long. <br /> Staff present: Terri Blattenbauer (YMCA) <br /> Meeting called to order at 6:35 pm at the Community Center. <br /> Terri pre-empted the meeting with objectives of calling the special meeting. <br /> * Make recommendation to City Council regarding Community Center additions. <br /> * Evaluate park needs and revise budget if needed. <br /> * Discuss programming ideas which would incur cost in 1999. <br /> The proposed additional expenses for the Community Center are: <br /> • *6 additional baskets $22,000 <br /> *Wall padding under baskets $3,400 <br /> *Divider curtain $8,000 <br /> *Scoreboard $3,200 <br /> *3 TV/VCR $1,950 <br /> *Kit lockers $3,000 <br /> TOTAL $41,550 <br /> Gary made a motion to approve all expenditures as an estimated budget to be expensed as <br /> part of construction costs. Seconded by Sherry. Motion carried. <br /> Original discussion had included teen games such as pool, air hockey, foosball, etc. It was decided <br /> to lease the equipment for 1 year from Dahlco, and decide at that time whether it was beneficial to <br /> lease rather than own. A refrigerator for the Sr. lounge will be explored as a donation. The sand <br /> VB court outside the Community Center will remain a future amenity. Terri will have information <br /> at the next regular Commission meeting in February regarding cost of the two outdoor basketball <br /> 1/2 courts. <br /> The long term financial plan was discussed. Park projects for 1999 include: <br /> * Picnic tables/trash receptacles $2,000 <br /> *Restore backstops at Silverview $12,000 <br /> * Hillview hockey boards $18,000 <br /> *Roofs, eaves, shingles, siding on park $20,000 <br /> buildings. <br />
