• I. INTRODUCTION <br /> In August of 1991 , the City Councils of Fridley, New Brighton, Mounds <br /> View and Spring Lake Park passed an identical resolution establishing a <br /> senior center task force that was charged with investigating the feasibility <br /> of establishing a regional senior citizens' center for the four communities. <br /> The purpose of this report is to update the City Councils of Fridley, Mounds <br /> View, New Brighton, and Spring Lake Park on the progress of the Regional <br /> Senior Citizens Task Force. <br /> In meeting their overall responsibilities, the Task Force was asked to <br /> identify programs and services that might be offered in a multi-jurisdictional <br /> senior citizens center facility to address the proposed location of a regional <br /> senior citizens center. Additionally, the Task Force was asked to develop <br /> recommendations regarding staffing and planning a senior citizens center <br /> that would serve the four cities. <br /> The City Councils also recognized that the Task Force should <br /> investigate coordination of the existing senior service providers within the <br /> four cities and develop recommendations for resolving any problems that <br /> might exist regarding the provision of senior services. Finally, the City <br /> Councils instructed the Task Force to determine what legal authority would <br /> be used to establish a regional senior citizens center, and to assess the <br />
