-2- <br /> This means that each of these fields can handle two to three practices each evening, <br /> having the potential of serving 30 teams each weekday evening, and more if practices are <br /> scrimmages. <br /> In most occasions staff has been able to satisfy the needs of coaches who reserve fields <br /> through the permit process. Coaches that follow the field permit process seem to be <br /> very satisfied in getting the fields at the times and dates that they wish. Coaches that do <br /> not follow the field permit system find that last minute requests are doubtful and usually <br /> unsuccessful. <br /> If game limits were imposed on MVAA and LLLL, similar to limits set for City <br /> sponsored adult and youth leagues, the number of fields reserved for games would <br /> decrease, thus opening up the opportunity for additional practice times. This is one <br /> option which offers immediate benefits and does not cost anything. In fact, it is the <br /> national tread for limiting youth games. Experts have been indicating to the profession <br /> that practices are far more beneficial than game situations regarding self-esteem and skill <br /> development of youth athletes. It has also been proven that games and practices are <br /> most productive when held for 1 - 1 1/2 hours in duration for ages 6 - 12 years old. <br /> Athletes loose attentiveness after this duration of time. <br /> In conclusion, I feel that in most occasions staff has been able to serve all the Mounds <br /> View coaches if they follow the procedures for permit reservations. If you know of a <br /> coach that is having a problem, by all means let us know because we truly believe that <br /> we can provide him or her with assistance in securing fields through the permit process. <br /> • <br /> S <br />
