THIS IS IT
Week of July 20, 1992
There has been much activity in the Recreation office this week due to a number of
activities which incorporate volunteers and staff. The MVCT program was being
formatted by Sharie and last minute advertising ads were added as fast as she could
format them. An increase of ads increased the size of the program from 12 pages in
previous years to 24 pages this year. Thanks to Samantha, five additional sponsors
were secured.
Ticket reservations have been coming in by telephone reservations and walk-ins. We
have been grabbing anyone that is around and willing to take on the task of the ticket
reservations. So watch out if you plan on visiting our office in the next week or two!
The summer playground program is going along good, an excursion or special event
planned each week.
Summer youth athletics is winding down with final games this week for some leagues,
next week for others, while some have begun playoffs. The standard and popular
participant award including a certificate with a team picture on it is also a very time
consuming award because it requires staff to go out to all the teams and take pictures,
• have them developed to make sure the pictures turn out, pick out a good one and have
14-15 copies made and finally paste them on the individually prepared certificate. Even
though it does require a lot of work, it seems to be the favorite participant award.
This week has been very busy with evening meetings. The RSCC met on Wednesday.
Although this meeting was scheduled to be with the councils, the council portion was
postponed because NB City Council had a budget meeting conflict. HOWEVER, the
councils have been invited to attend the meeting on August 12, 1992 at 7:00 p.m.
instead. More info on this meeting later.
The Parks and Recreation Commission is meeting on Thursday, first with a joint
meeting with SLP Commission at Lakeside Park and then back at City Hall to meet the
Parks Maintenance crew and discuss business.
Friday the play "CAMELOT" will open. There has been a number of difficult theater
staff issues concerning this play and I along with the board and others will be very
happy to see the play begin and end without additional hassles from theater staff
members.
The bids for the culvert project at Silver View Park will be opened later this week.
Hopefully the prices will be within the budget so that the project can get scheduled.
•
