•
-2-
I am keeping my eyes and ears out for grant opportunities for trailways. The S
LAWCON grant specifically is associated with parks, but the LCMR grant could be
available for other trailways. However, the LCMR has a more regional criteria that we
may find difficult because we are competing with the Counties and State trailway
projects. My earlier attempt was denied because of lack of "regional" significance. But,
try and try again as the old saying goes.
This correspondence update will serve in place of a meeting. I just don't have enough
subject matter to call a meeting. However, I will correspond with you on a quarterly
basis or call a meeting if the need arises.
I hope that you all had an enjoyable summer. Autumn is a great time to bicycle and
walk various trailways in the metro area, so I hope that you have that opportunity.
Please feel free to call me with any ideas or suggests anytime. My office number is 784-
3055 ext. 20.
Sincerely,
•
Mary Saarion, Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
S
