411
"THIS IS IT"
PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY
(week of October 19)
PARKS ACTIVITIES:
Steve and Jeff have been preparing the parks for Winter.
Sprinkling lines have been blown out, drinking fountains have
been drained and the heaters in the park buildings have been
inspected.
Final turf preparations have been done including mowing,
fertilizing and mulching. This will need to continue depending
upon the weather.
Lambert Park playground spring animals, border and sand surface
material has been installed. The game striping has been
completed on the asphalt. Yet to be done is the playtop
accessible trailway inside the playground area and the asphalt
path that will lead from the parking lot to the playground area.
Hopefully the weather will give us enough warm days to complete
411 this project.
Silver View trail restoration at the culvert area is hopefully
completed by the end of this week. The work is to be completed
on Thursday, October 22 weather permitting.
Staff met with Tom from Able Fence for the expansion of the
Greenfield baseball field infield fence. This will be extended for 40 feet down the line to the
players dugout. Similarly, the same will be added to the other
side to help protect spectators sitting in the bleachers from
foul ball hits.
Steve and Jeff attended a day water conference at Brooklyn Center
Civic Center. They had a chance to see Brooklyn Center Civic
Center Park and discuss its construction with some of the
Brooklyn Center maintenance crew. They have incorporated trails
and waterways and ballfields, lighting, play areas and other.
RECREATION:
Sharie, Mary and I have been in the process of planning,
410 organizing and making arrangements for second quarter after
school activities. Mary met last week with the principals and
