• <br /> • MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RAMSEY COUNTY <br /> MINUTES <br /> Thursday, July 25, 1996 <br /> 6:30 p.m., Conf. Rm. C, City Hall <br /> CALL TO <br /> ORDER: Chair Burmeister called the meeting to order. <br /> ROLL CALL: Commissioners present included Chair Burmeister and Commissioners Dentz, <br /> Stevenson, Silvis, Long and Starr. Council Liaison Trude was present as well as Director <br /> Saarion. <br /> APPROVAL OF <br /> MINUTES: Minutes of June 27, 1996 meeting were approved unanimously. <br /> • PROGRAM <br /> REPORTS: Director Saarion reported that summer trips went well with highlights being the <br /> Festival, Mounds View Community Theater production of"ANNIE", Sr. Picnic and a myriad of <br /> youth programs.The Teen Dance at Lakeside Park is a new program that went well for the first <br /> time. It was not the best weather, but there was fun by all who came. Staff looks forward to a <br /> bigger and better response next year. Approximately 50 participants showed up. Director <br /> Saarion reported that the incidence of diseased trees has increased this year, for what reason <br /> Forester Wriskey is unsure. Vandalism has occurred at Silver View Park picnic shelter, <br /> playground and portable restroom enclosure. All in all vandalism has been minimal this summe'r. <br /> Safety Camp is being held again. It is beginning to be repetitious and therefore staff will look into <br /> providing this program for specific ages. <br /> ARDEN PARK <br /> UPDATE: Staff has not heard from Ramsey County regarding improvements to the compost <br /> facility located at Arden Park. Staff will continue to call and request timelines and dates for <br /> activity. <br /> WOODCREST <br /> PARK GARDENS: Fall will be the time that the garden areas at Woodcrest Park will be <br /> prepared for next Spring community gardening program. A wooden shed has been put in the <br /> • 1997 budget for Woodcrest Gardens to serve as a tool and equipment shed. Commissioner Silvis <br /> reported that he had heard that Knox was selling their ready made barns at inexpensive prices. <br />
