letter to the editor of our local papers.
• We all have the opportunity to
become involved with our city as
much or as little as we want. Seize
the opportunity; talk to our council
members and mayor, they are our
representatives.
Bel-Rae plans Sherry Gunn
To the editor. Mounds View
I want to thank the Mounds View
City Council and staff for the very
informative meeting Oct. 21 con-
cerning the Bel-Rae.
It was obvious that a lot of hard
work has gone into the development
plans for our community center.The
seven plans that were shown showed
that you as a council and staff have
listened, via the survey, to what the
community wants to see happen to
the Bel-Rae. I realize that there are j
those opposed to-tire-whole Tia;it
way it was purchased; etc, but we
have it, let's put it to the best use
possible. III
If it can serve as a gathering spot
. for the community—great! If it can
generate revenue and add to our tax
base — wonderful. As a resident of
a Mounds View, I see a need for our.,
community to have a place that can
offer services, recreational opportu-
nities,meeting space, teen and senior
space, banquet facilities and space
for our community theater group,
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. We
have the place, let's move on with the
plans.
Some complain that the city
council doesn't listen —it's hard to
listen when nothing is being said.
Every resident of this city has the
opportunity to be heard. Council
meetings and work sessions are open
to the public, yet the council
chambers are usually empty.Council
members and city hall have phone
numbers — call them with your
opinions. Write a letter. Send it to
each of the members. Send it as a
•
