Quick
Mounds View Charter Commission Chair Russell Warren:
Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes § 410.12, subd. 1, a petition committee shall seek
preapproval from the city charter commission for purposes of compliance with petition
language when the proposed amendment exceeds 1000 words.
The amendment being proposed by our petition committee does not exceed this limit,
but we respectfully request that the city charter commission and staff review the
attached materials for form and substance to assure that it is in full compliance with the
amendment procedures found in Minnesota Statutes § 410.12.
We also request that the charter commission determine the number of registered voters
required to sign the petition under state law, which would be 5% of the total votes cast
in the last previous state general election in the city.
We seek a written response within ten days after receipt of our proposed petition.
Sincerely, 1-2
Aaron Pratt
On behalf of the petition committee: Aaron Pratt, Bob King, Patrick Lee, Dave Thury,
and John Aitkin II.
