Mounds View City Council August 28, 2023 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br />1 <br />2 Acting Mayor Meehlhause thanked the Festival in the Park Committee for all of their efforts to <br />3 put on this years festival. He thanked Mr. Peterson and the Public Works staff for all of their efforts <br />4 as well. <br />5 <br />6 Acting Mayor Meehlhause asked if a resident could be added to the negotiating team that was <br />7 working on organized trash collection. City Attorney Riggs stated it would not be the norm to have <br />8 a resident on the negotiating team. He reported the information gained from the negotiations would <br />9 be brought to the public once the process was completed. <br />10 <br />11 Further discussion ensued regarding how water is charged to Mounds View residents that were <br />12 receiving water from Fridley. <br />13 <br />14 Council Member Cermak expressed concern with the Ardan Park signs that were posted <br />15 throughout the community. She stated she had a bad experience and was treated poorly by the <br />16 public over this issue and she did not like seeing these signs in the community. <br />17 <br />18 B. Reports of Staff. <br />19 <br />20 Finance Director Bauman explained another conduit debt opportunity may be coming to the <br />21 Council in 2024. <br />22 <br />23 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson reported the City Forester was concerned <br />24 about the number of ash and oak trees that were dead and dying in the community. He indicated <br />25 there were a large number of trees that would have to be removed in the coming year. He stated <br />26 there were over 60 trees in the manufactured home park alone. <br />27 <br />28 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson discussed the upcoming stormwater pond <br />29 meetings and noted the first meeting would be held on September 21 at 5:00 p.m. at Silver View <br />30 Park. The second meeting would be held on September 28 in the Council Chambers. <br />31 <br />32 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson requested the Council allow the water meter <br />33 contractor to use the Groveland Park building for the duration (September 2023 through June <br />34 2024) of the water meter replacement project. The Council supported this request. <br />35 <br />36 City Administrator Zikmund explained Ms. Renee Johnson was looking to use the park shelters, <br />37 if they are not being wsed,- to distribute books if they are not being rented. The Council supported <br />38 this activity. <br />39 <br />40 City Administrator Zikmund commented a local group has asked to use the Council Chambers on <br />41 September 21 for a candidate forum for the two candidates for Mayor. He stated Nine North would <br />42 be brought in for the event. <br />43 <br />44 City Administrator Zikmund stated the Council would be holding a Closed Session meeting on <br />45 Tuesday, September 5. <br />46 <br />
