The appropriate governmental <br />agency having jurisdiction over the roadway (if not the City) and the owner of the property directly abutting the sign. <br />*** For free-standing signs, maximum sign area is measured per side, maximum of two sides. <br />**** See Specific Sign Type Standards and Requirements for Projection Signs <br />§ 161.038 SPECIFIC SIGN TYPE STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS. <br />(C) Projection signs. The following standards shall be maintained for all projection signs. <br />(1) All portions of projection signs shall be designed for a wind pressure of not less than 30 pounds <br />per square foot. <br />(2) Such signs shall not project over public street right-of-way but may project over private <br />sidewalks. No such sign shall be less than 12 feet above the level of the sidewalk; except that, <br />the signs which do not exceed four square feet and which do not project more than two feet <br />over the sidewalk may be eight feet or more above the sidewalk. No projection sign shall project <br />more than eight feet over any private sidewalk. <br />(3) There shall be no more than two feet of space between the inner edge of any such sign and the <br />face of the wall from which it projects, nor shall the outer edge of the sign be more than eight <br />feet from the face of the wall. Projection Signs and structural elements shall not occupy more <br />than 25% of the area of the roof, nor exceed 10 feet in height above a roof or parapet. The <br />allowable size of Projection Signs shall be included within the permitted Wall Sign area. <br />(4) The building or structure from which any such sign projects and all attachments or fastenings <br />must be so constructed as to safely resist the dead load and the wind load added by the <br />attached sign. <br />(5) All such signs shall be of non-combustible materials or of not less than one -hour fire -resistive <br />construction. <br />(6) Such signs shall be securely fixed in place and shall not be able to swing or sway. <br />§ 161.039 MISCELLANEOUS SIGNAGE REQUIREMENTS AND PROVISIONS. <br />(A) Signage allowances for specific land uses. Public or semi-public recreational buildings and <br />neighborhood and community centers; public and private education institutions limited to <br />
