RESOLUTION NO. 9871 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVING CONTRIBUTION OF $172,411 TO SPRING LAKE PARK — BLAINE — MOUNDS <br />VIEW FIRE DEPARTMENT (SBMFD) CAPITAL FUND AND ADDING BULK UNIFORM <br />PURCHASE OF $50,000 TO BE ADDED TO THE SBMFD CAPITAL PLAN <br />WHEREAS, the City has been a contract/JPA member of the Spring Lake Park — Blaine <br />— Mounds View Fire Department since 1944; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View has received high quality services at cost efficient <br />expenditures; and <br />WHEREAS, the SBMFD is transitioning to a new staffing model — duty crew — in response <br />to the decline of volunteers occurring in our community and across the nation; and <br />WHEREAS, the duty crew model requires more individuals which requires more gear, <br />uniform, and such; and <br />WHEREAS, the three partner cities adopted a capital plan and capital budget in <br />2019/2020 which requires items to be in the plan prior to expenditure release; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2023 Minnesota Legislature allocated public safety aid for all political <br />subdivisions in the State of Minnesota with Mounds Views share $574,704; and <br />WHEREAS, the three cities agreed to allocate 30% of the fund to the SBMFD Capital <br />Budget which Blaine and Spring Lake Park have done; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View <br />that the $50,000 expenditure for uniforms for the Duty Crew be added to the Capital Plan and <br />that 30% of the $574,704 precisely $172,411, be deposited in the SBM Capital Budget <br />maintained by the City of Blaine. <br />h Lindstrom, Ma <br />ATTEST: <br />kn)fdnd, City Administrator <br />(seal) <br />
