MOUNDS VIEW RESOLUTION N0.2023-_ Charter Commission CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW CHARTER COMMISSION COUNTY OF RAMSEY Chair STATE OF MINNESOTA Russell Warren RESOLUTION TRANSMITTING CITIZEN PETITION AND 763-786-3591 PROPOSING AMENDMENT TO THE MOUNDS VIEW CHARTER Vice Chair Rebecca Scholl WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View(the"City") is governed by a 651-503-3999 home rule charter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, chapter 410; and 2°d Vice Chair WHEREAS, the City's charter commission (the "Commission") Jerry Peterson received a proposed amendment to the City's charter initiated by a petition 612-607-3953 submitted pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 410.12, subdivisions 1, 2, and, 3 (the "Petition"), a copy of which is included as Exhibit A; and Secretary Brian Amundsen WHEREAS, in accordance with Minn. Stat. 410.12, subds. 1 and 3, 763-786-5699 the Commission must propose amendments to the City's charter "upon the petition of voters equal in number to five percent of the total votes cast at the Dennis Erickson 612-270-5293 last previous state general election in the city"and transmit such proposals to the Mounds View City Council; and Edeth James Edeth James WHEREAS, there were 5048 votes cast during the November 2022 3-5655 state general election,meaning the number of voter signatures needed is 253 Matthew Meehan and the Petition appears to include 279 signatures. 763-227-1436 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mounds View Aaron Pratt Charter Commission, as is required by Minnesota Statutes, section 410.12, 612-743-7494 subdivision 1,that the Petition-initiated amendment be transmitted to the City Council for examination by the City Clerk and subsequent submission to the Gary Quick voters as provided in Minn. Stat. 410.12, subds. 3 and 4. 763-786-4631 Passed and adopted at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Mounds View Charter Commission on September 19, 2023.
