Item: 7A <br /> 44 <br /> MOUNDS VIEW <br /> PUBLIC WORKS • PARKS&RECREATION <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br /> From: Don Peterson - Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br /> Date: February 22, 2024 <br /> RE: Irondale Baseball League suggested field improvements at City Hall and <br /> Silverview Parks <br /> Discussion/ Background <br /> The Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission was advised of field improvements <br /> requested by Irondale baseball League (IBL). <br /> At the January 25, 2024 Commission meeting the Commission voted to moved forward <br /> with the improvements at Silver View fields. <br /> Since this Commission meeting and in working with WSB Engineering Staff has learned <br /> that WSB in conjunction with the Parks Master Plan would like the City to consider the <br /> re-alignment of the South Ball Field. <br /> This re-alignment would move the field in order to eliminate the crossing of the outfields <br /> of both fields 1 and 2 from crossing and correcting a player safety concern. <br /> Staff is bringing this back to the Commission to consider making the field improvements <br /> at the City Hall ball field instead of Silver View Park at this time. <br /> Cost for the field improvements at City Hall are as follows: <br /> 1) Sideline fencing extending 60' - $3,450.00 <br /> 2) Dugouts with metal roofing - $46,950.00 <br /> 3) Concrete Work- dugout, bleacher and sidewalks - $20,000.00 (estimated) <br /> Total- $70,400.00 <br /> Staff is requesting the commission review and provide staff further direction. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> C-Z-41,4- 7...€ 451.-1----1/4-____ <br /> Don Peterson <br /> Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />
