Recommendation:
Staff is requesting the City Council to review the information and provide further direction regarding
the current program/policy, options include the following:
1) Keep program as is and continue to provide Contractor to provide both Boulevard and private
property rates for tree removals.
2) Revise program and provide a contractor and rates for boulevard trees only. Private tree
removal and locating a contractor would be up to the property owner. The time line for removal
set by City Arborist would still need to be adhered too. If the owner failed to remove the tree
the City would remove the tree(s) following the City Attorney's steps and the cost for the
removal would be assessed for the property.
Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Attractive and Affordable Housing; Provide opportunity for lower
costs of services to residents and business of Mounds View.
Financial Impact: Financial Impact to the 2024, 2025, and future Budgets.
Recommendation:
Staff will be at the Work Session to discuss the City Diseased Tree Removal Program.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Peterson
Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation
The Mounds View Vision
A Thriving Desirable Community
