® Stantec <br />To: Don Peterson From <br />City of Mounds View <br />Project/File: Mounds View, Silver View Pond Date <br />Restoration, Project No.193806465 <br />Reference: Public Meeting #1 Notes and Survey Results <br />Dan Edgerton <br />Minneapolis <br />October 26, 2023 <br />Memo <br />An onsite public meeting was held on 9/21/2023 to present and discuss the Silver View Pond restoration <br />project. A meeting notice is attached. The agenda for the meeting was as follows: <br />• Don Peterson welcomed the attendees and provided project background <br />• Tyle McLeete introduced the Stantec team <br />• Dan Edgerton discussed the City's surface water system, the previous pond inventory project, and <br />the identified need to restore Silver View Pond <br />• Dendy Lofton presented the status of the water quality and sediment sampling and upland <br />vegetation survey and discussed potential restoration options <br />• A general Q&A session was held <br />• Dendy Lofton led several attendees on a walk around the pond <br />• A public survey was handed out, and a link to an online version of the survey was provided <br />A tabulation of the results of the public survey is attached. A summary of comments received is as follows: <br />• Seventeen responses were received. Based on addresses provided by responders, all but two <br />reside in the immediate vicinity of the park <br />• What does Silver View Pond mean to you? Walk around, community pond, see neighbors, wildlife, <br />beauty, nature, fountains <br />• What is your favorite part of Silver View Pond? Walking path, neighbors, wildlife, vegetation, <br />serenity, sound of water, turtles, birds, trees <br />• What is your least favorite part of Silver View Pond? Path needs to be redone, hills in park block <br />view of pond, odor, buckthorn, pond is overgrown with plants, algae, lily pads, green slime/scum on <br />water, geese <br />• What do you want to see changed at Silver View Pond? Get rid of hills, create picnic area, <br />paddling, ice skating trail, better water quality, remove buckthorn, more natural habitat, clearer <br />Design with community in mind <br />
