® Stantec To: Don Peterson From City of Mounds View Project/File: Mounds View, Silver View Pond Date Restoration, Project No.193806465 Reference: Public Meeting #1 Notes and Survey Results Dan Edgerton Minneapolis October 26, 2023 Memo An onsite public meeting was held on 9/21/2023 to present and discuss the Silver View Pond restoration project. A meeting notice is attached. The agenda for the meeting was as follows: • Don Peterson welcomed the attendees and provided project background • Tyle McLeete introduced the Stantec team • Dan Edgerton discussed the City's surface water system, the previous pond inventory project, and the identified need to restore Silver View Pond • Dendy Lofton presented the status of the water quality and sediment sampling and upland vegetation survey and discussed potential restoration options • A general Q&A session was held • Dendy Lofton led several attendees on a walk around the pond • A public survey was handed out, and a link to an online version of the survey was provided A tabulation of the results of the public survey is attached. A summary of comments received is as follows: • Seventeen responses were received. Based on addresses provided by responders, all but two reside in the immediate vicinity of the park • What does Silver View Pond mean to you? Walk around, community pond, see neighbors, wildlife, beauty, nature, fountains • What is your favorite part of Silver View Pond? Walking path, neighbors, wildlife, vegetation, serenity, sound of water, turtles, birds, trees • What is your least favorite part of Silver View Pond? Path needs to be redone, hills in park block view of pond, odor, buckthorn, pond is overgrown with plants, algae, lily pads, green slime/scum on water, geese • What do you want to see changed at Silver View Pond? Get rid of hills, create picnic area, paddling, ice skating trail, better water quality, remove buckthorn, more natural habitat, clearer Design with community in mind
