ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Anderson, Arel, Lillemo, Lundberg, Palm, Mills, Wake Wiesner <br /> Staff: *Peterson I Thomas 1 Szurek *to be absent <br /> 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Lundberg. Motion passed <br /> 5-0 <br /> 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES-February 22, 2024: Correction: Mills was present at the Feb. <br /> meeting. (Lillemo present now) Motion to approve by Arel with correction. 2nd by Mills. <br /> Motion Passed 6-0 <br /> 5. PUBLIC INPUT <br /> Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight's agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br /> name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. NO RESIDENTS PRESENT <br /> 6. STAFF REPORTS <br /> A. Parks and Recreation -Andy: See attached report (Wake Wiesner present): 1st St. <br /> Patrick's Day Bash was a success! No specific complaints at Hodges Park Building, but it <br /> does need some updates in the bathrooms and new carpeting. <br /> B. Public Works — Pete: See attached report. <br /> 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> A. Ball Field Improvements- City Hall, Silver View Park — Shed location Concrete Slab: Direct <br /> Staff to bring this size and location to IBL to see if this is acceptable. <br /> B. Coach of the Year: We have 13 nominations. We can choose past winners. Discussed our <br /> top 3 choices among each Commissioner. The Commission shared some of the comments <br /> and agree that comments should be shared publicly on social media. Motion by Lillemo to <br /> nominate Co-Coach of the Year to coaches #2 and #8 for MV Coach of the Year. 2nd <br /> by Wake Wiesner. Motion Passed 7-0 <br /> C. Joint City Council / Parks, and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting — May 6, <br /> 2024, at 6:00 p.m. <br /> 8. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Per email from Don Peterson: Staff has reached out to the <br /> Ramsey County Library about a "Literacy Trail." Staff has not heard back, but the RCL did <br /> provide a website for further information. Promoting an "off-leash" dog park area on social <br /> media and the MV Newsletter would be how we would get the word out. This is at Hillview Park <br /> and Lambert Park ice rink enclosed areas. Community Garden: We are still receiving <br /> information from other communities on how they run their programs. Local Girl Scout Troop <br /> sent to the Commission with ideas to improve Hillview Park to be inclusive and have an <br /> accessible bathrooms during the day. Portable bathrooms will be delivered mid-April. Next <br /> Tribute Park meeting will be April 9th. Positive survey results! Where are we with the Twins <br /> Grant for the ballfield improvements?
