Item No: 8A <br /> Meeting Date: April 23, 2024 <br /> MOUNDS itIEW <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commission <br /> From: Don Peterson, Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br /> Item Title/Subject: Storm Water Update; Silver View Park Storm Water <br /> Background/Discussion: <br /> The Public Works Department has many responsibilities and one is to efficiently operate <br /> and manage the storm water system. The system was first constructed in the 1970's <br /> and as with other similar core functions, research, innovation and best management <br /> practices have changed over the years. <br /> Below is an overview of the Ardan Park Storm Water Pond project- provided by Dan <br /> Edgerton of Stantec Services: <br /> Ardan Park Strom Water Pond: <br /> Data collection <br /> In-pond veg surveys are done <br /> Sediment coring is done. Sediment needs to be hauled to landfill. <br /> Water quality sampling is done <br /> Upland vegetation summary memo was completed and reviewed with Don Peterson <br /> Wetland delineation field work was completed. Report expected shortly so TEP can get out and <br /> review. <br /> Field survey is scheduled to be completed in the next couple of weeks, with a focus on potential <br /> BMP locations <br /> Public engagement <br /> Mtg#1 was held on Thursday, 9/28, 5 pm. Meeting summary was submitted to Don <br /> Mtg#2 to be held after preliminary plans and concepts complete <br /> Take the recommendations to the Park Commission early 2022, before going to the City Council <br /> Have the second public meeting at a City Council meeting, early 2024 <br /> Stantec has completed the field work and provided 60% plans for the Silver View Strom <br /> Water Pond Project. Staff has been meeting with Stantec to review the plans and <br /> working to prepare the plans for review by the Parks & Recreation & Forestry <br /> Commission and City Council <br /> After the Commission reviews the plans a Public Meeting will be held in early 2024 at <br /> the City Council Meeting, part of the public outreach for this project. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Staff is requesting the Commission review the information and provide Stantec and Staff <br /> with feedback and further direction. <br />
