MOU-N-DIh <br />ViEw <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: 8E <br />Meeting Date: April 22, 2024 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Pete Szurek, Public Works Superintendent <br />Don Peterson, Public Works / Park and Recreation Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9911, Authorizing the Purchase of a F550 Service Truck <br />and Bucket Body Installation <br />Background/Discussion: <br />As part of the Public Works Department's maintenance program, service trucks are <br />purchased for the departments to perform maintenance and inspections required <br />throughout the City. <br />The Streets Department has in use a 2006 F550 4x2 Bucket truck, unit #447. <br />Discussion: <br />Due to supply chain issues throughout and the economy, purchasing vehicles from the <br />State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture Program (CPV) has been <br />significantly reduced and has become difficult for Staff to meet their required ordering <br />time window and in some cases, purchasing certain vehicles is not available for <br />municipalities. <br />Staff has received two quotes for a new 2024 F550 4x2 Regular Cab-60" CA DRW XL <br />and Chassis: <br />Saxon Fleet Services of Oakdale, MN $56,388.49* <br />Midway Ford of Roseville, MN $57,123.20* <br />*Includes taxes, title and registration fees <br />Further Discussion: <br />Crysteel has offered the City $3,500 for the trade in of #447 and will transfer the bucket <br />body to the new cab and chassis for the cost of $12,494.00. (Without the trade in the cost <br />would be $15,994.00) In addition, the new vehicle will require protective seat covers, a 2- <br />way radio and City graphics for a cost of $1,326.25. Total cost for the unit is $70,208.74, <br />in the 2024 Vehicle and Equipment Pavement Management budget of $67,000, fund 460- <br />4470-7040 with the remaining balance to be funded from 460-4360-7040 and 745-4415- <br />5120. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure. <br />Financial Impact: 2024 budgeted in the Vehicles and Equipment, Pavement <br />Management Fund, account 460-4470-7040. <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
