MOU-N-DS ViEw City of Mounds View Staff Report Item No: 8F Meeting Date: April 22, 2024 Type of Business: Council Business Administrator Review: To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Pete Szurek, Public Works Superintendent Don Peterson, Public Works / Park and Recreation Director Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9912, Authorizing the Purchase of an F350 Service Pickup Truck with Dump Body Background/Discussion: As part of the Public Works Department's maintenance program, service trucks are purchased for the departments to perform maintenance and inspections required throughout the City. The Parks Department has in use a 2005 Ford 250 4x4 truck, unit #308, (this unit will be sent to auction). Discussion: With the supply chain issues throughout the economy, purchasing vehicles from the State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture Program (CPV) has been significantly reduced and has become harder to meet the required time window and in some cases purchasing certain vehicles is not available for municipalities. Staff has received two quotes for a new 2024 F350 4x4 Regular Cab-60" CA XL and Chassis: Saxon Fleet Services of Oakdale, MN $54,023.35* Midway Ford of Roseville, MN $54,832.27* *Includes taxes, title and registration fees Further Discussion: This vehicle will require a steel 9' dump body with rigid sides, two 18x18x18 underbed toolboxes, strobe lighting, step ladder and Tommy Gate Lift-N-Dump tailgate, installed at cost of $23,268.94. (State bid price and quote for the bed purchase and installation provided by North Central Truck & Van Equipment, 4821 Mustang Circle, Mounds View.) As a cost saving measure, Staff will remove existing plow controls and mount from unit #308, these will be installed on the new F-350 by Crysteel Truck and Equipment. In addition Crysteel will be installing new plow wiring along and a wing blade extensions to the plow for a cost of $3,690.00. The vehicle will require seat covers, City 2-way radio, body strobes, and City graphics for a cost of $1,687.50. Total cost for the unit is $82,669.79. The unit is in the 2024 Vehicle and Equipment (fund) Parks Budget. Budgeted amount of $85,000.00 in the Parks Vehicle and Equipment Parks account, 460- 4360-7040.
