In January, VCET Investigators continued their long-term methamphetamine <br />investigation into a Mexican Based Drug Trafficking Organization. Undercover Officers <br />were in contact with a Source of Supply in Mexico and ordered multiple pounds of <br />methamphetamine. A deal location was set in a neighboring city to Mounds View where <br />the undercover officer met with the runner and purchased two pounds of <br />methamphetamine. The runner and his house were later identified in which a Search <br />Warrant will be executed at a later date. <br />In February, Investigators were working an investigation which focused on the money <br />aspect of a Drug Trafficking Organization. The money courier was believed to live in <br />Mounds View and laundering money back to Mexico. A Search Warrant was executed <br />at the courier's residence in which a large quantity of US Currency was seized along <br />with other narcotic related evidence. <br />In February & March, VCET Undercover Officers continue to be introduced to Drug <br />Trafficking Organizations for the purpose of purchasing large quantities of drugs such <br />as methamphetamine. Undercover Officers will negotiate prices and deal locations with <br />the Sources of Supply and then meet with drug runners. These investigations are highly <br />confidential as most of the runners still don't realize they sold methamphetamine to a <br />Police Officer. Investigators will continue to investigate and indict these runners / <br />Sources of Supply and then arrest them at a later date. <br />In February, Investigators received information that a large quantity of <br />methamphetamine was going to be delivered to an address in the Twin Cities. <br />Investigators had a description of the vehicle along with a partial license plate however <br />did not know the current location of the load. While enroute to a separate operation, the <br />MVPD VCET Investigator located the load vehicle by accident. With the assistance of <br />his / her partners, a traffic stop was conducted in which nearly 30 pounds of <br />methamphetamine was recovered. <br />In March, Investigators conducted an undercover operation posing as cartel money <br />couriers. Investigators met with the suspects in which a large quantity of US Currency <br />was exchange from the suspects to the Investigators. The couriers were later identified, <br />and narcotic investigations have since been opened on them. This case remains <br />ongoing. <br />
