Presentation of 2023 Coach of the Year — Roscoe Curry. <br />18 <br />19 Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Commission Chair Gerald Arel read the Resolution in full for the <br />20 record naming Roscoe Curry Coach of the Year for 2023. A round of applause was offered by all <br />21 in attendance. <br />22 <br />23 Roscoe Currey thanked those who nominated him for this award. He stated he was fortunate to <br />24 have great kids on his team along with supportive parents. <br />25 <br />26 MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Clark. To Adopt Resolution 9925, Naming Roscoe Curry <br />27 Coach of the Year for 2023. <br />28 <br />29 Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />30 <br />31 D. 2024 Mounds View Police Department Quarter 1 Report — Chief Zender. <br />32 <br />33 Police Chief Zender provided the Council with a presentation on Quarter 1 from the Mounds View <br />34 Police Department. He welcomed Julie Clark to the City Council and stated she would be a great <br />35 asset for the community. He reported this week was National Police Week. He commented on the <br />36 tremendous success of the Daddy Daughter Dance and stated residents have also enjoyed attending <br />37 Coffee with a Cop at City Hall. He discussed the career fairs his officers attended in recent months <br />38 and noted he currently had 17 officers and was budgeted for 21. He noted the department currently <br />39 had one officer in training and another going through the background process. He reported Officer <br />40 Dison was recently promoted to Sergeant, which made her the first female sergeant within the <br />41 Mounds View Police Department. He commented on the recent events the City's K-9 team had <br />42 attended and stated the department's reserve program was helping with outreach to the community. <br />43 He explained the VCET program continues to be busy in the City. He provided further comment <br />44 on the training his officers received and discussed how the public safety funding from the State <br />45 would assist in improving the safety of the department and its officers. He reported the department <br />46 had two new solar signs and the department was considering placement. He indicated the City now <br />
