r- MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> • February 25, 1988 <br /> 6: 30 p.m. <br /> Mounds View City Hall <br /> Council Chambers <br /> CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6: 43 p.m. <br /> by Chairperson Wayne Burmeister. <br /> ROLL CALL Commissioners present : Burmeister, Long, <br /> Silvis, Rowley, and Starr <br /> Commissioners absent : Anderson, Daniels <br /> Councilmembers present: Wuori <br /> Staff present : Director Saarion, <br /> Admin. Assistant Linke and Forester Wriskey <br /> Visitors : Keith and Todd King <br /> David and Sue Rademacher <br /> CHAIRPERSON' S REPORT None <br /> COUNCILMEMBER' S REPORT Councilmember Wuori reported on the progress <br /> of the Pinewood Playground Committee . <br /> Comm ttee . <br /> • Fund raising activities to date have raised <br /> approximately $20, 000 . She also stated that <br /> a seminar on Wetlands is being held on <br /> Saturday, February 27 beginning at 9: 00 a.m. <br /> at City Hall . This is open to the public <br /> and Park and Recreation Commissioners are <br /> encouraged to attend . <br /> 1987 END OF YEAR <br /> FORESTRY SUMMARY City Forester Rick Wriskey distributed a <br /> pamphlet on purple loosestrife which is an <br /> agressive plant that is invading our <br /> wetlands, replacing valuable wetland plants , <br /> eliminating food and shelter for wildlife <br /> and choking waterways . He added that both <br /> the Silver View Park and Greenfield Park <br /> wetlands were at risk . <br /> Forester Wriskey distributed a brochure on <br /> the gypsy moth and reported that no gypsy <br /> moths had been trapped in 1987. <br /> Forester Wriskey then proceeded with a slide <br /> presentation on a variety of forestry issues <br /> including oak wilt , Dutch elm disease and <br /> • vandalism in the parks . Following the <br /> presentation he answered questions from the <br /> Commission. <br />
