-4- <br /> PURCHASE OF BIKE RACKS Director Saarion asked the Commission if they <br /> would be interested in taking advantage of a sale <br /> on bike racks. This would involve an exchange of <br /> • <br /> capital purchases; bikes racks purchased this <br /> year instead of tether ball sets. A motion was <br /> made by Commissioner Silvis, seconded by <br /> Commissioner Long to approve the purchase of the <br /> bike racks this year. Motion passed; 6 ayes, 0 <br /> nayes. <br /> Gary Stevenson suggested that the bike racks be <br /> held down with a 2 or 3 foot spike. Otherwise, <br /> the galvanized type rack is easily moved. <br /> PARK MAINTENANCE PROJECTS Director Saarion referred the Commission to the <br /> schedules of maintenance projects in the packet. <br /> GREENFIELD PARK This item is an agenda addition. Staff discussed <br /> the possibility of having street sweepings dumped <br /> in the Greenfield Park site, directly across from <br /> Oakwood Park. This area is uneven and is in need <br /> of grading. It is a wetland and special <br /> permission would be needed to alter the area. <br /> Following a discussion, a motion was made by <br /> Commissioner Silvis, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Burmeister to request a permit from the City <br /> Council to deposit street sweepings to be used • <br /> in grading the area of Greenfield Park located <br /> across from Oakwood Park on Hillview Rd. The <br /> motion passed; 6 ayes, 0 nayes. <br /> REVIEW OF 1988 GOALS Staff provided the Commission with a copy of the <br /> 1988 Parks and Recreation Department goals. <br /> SPRING PROGRAMS Director Saarion gave a brief overview of the <br /> spring programs. <br /> OLD BUSINESS The following items were provided as information <br /> to the Commission: <br /> 1. Outdoor Athletic Field Guidelines were <br /> approved by the City Council. As yet , no <br /> group has been assessed these fees. <br /> 2. The playground equipment approved by the <br /> Commission at the last meeting has been <br /> ordered and delivery is expected in around 6 <br /> weeks from order date. <br /> 3. Letter to residents around Silver View Park <br /> will be sent this week. <br /> 4. Articles regarding safety of playgrounds was <br /> included in packets for Commissioners <br /> information. <br />
