MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />February 16, 1989 <br />6:30 p.m. <br />Mounds View City Hall <br />Council Chambers <br />CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:33 <br />p.m. by Chairperson Wayne Burmeister. <br />ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Silvis, Long, <br />Stevenson, Starr and Burmeister <br />Staff present: Director Saarion and <br />Administrative Assistant Linke <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis, <br />seconded by Commissioner Long to approve <br />the January 26, 1989 minutes as written. <br />Motion carried; 5 ayes, 0 nayes. <br />AGENDA ADDITIONS Director Saarion invited the Commission <br />to attend the March 3 Goal Setting <br />Session to be held at the Shoreview <br />Holiday Inn from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. <br />The Commissioners will have this <br />opportunity to share parks and recreation <br />goals at the session. Commissioner <br />Silvis stated that he was in favor of a <br />dedicated tax levy for park maintenance. <br />Commissioner Stevenson felt that the City <br />needs to assign one or two park <br />maintenance workers specifically to parks <br />tasks to improve consistency in park <br />maintenance. The Commission also <br />indicated that their 1989-90 goal would <br />be the improvement of Oakwood Park. <br />Commissioner Silvis also added that <br />another goal is the expansion and upgrade <br />of the trail systems within the City. <br />CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT None <br />COUNCILMEMBER'S REPORT Councilmember not present. <br />FORESTER'S REPORT Forester Wriskey was unable to attend due <br />to the death of his father. <br />
