PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES <br />THURSDAY MARCH 24 1994 <br />CALL TO <br />ORDER: Chairperson Burmeister called the meeting to order <br />at 6:40 p.m. <br />ROLL CALL: For the first time in several years, the Parks and <br />Recreation Commission did not have a quorum. <br />Members present included Chair Burmeister and <br />Commissioners Silvis and Dentz. Councilmember <br />Trude was also present. Staff included Director <br />Saarion. Commissioners absent included Long, <br />Starr, Trettel and Stevenson. <br />1994 GOALS: Commission reviewed goals for 1994, to be <br />presented to the City Council at the Work Session <br />on Monday, April 4, 1994. <br />MAXFIELD <br />REPORT: This report was reviewed and all present agreed <br />that it did not look too promising. The issue <br />will be reviewed again at the next meeting with <br />all Commissioners present. <br />RINK REVIEW: Director Saarion reviewed the statistics of the <br />season and updated the Commission on the issue of <br />chippy ice. <br />PARK FACILITY <br />USAGE: Director Saarion asked the Commission to review <br />the policies and process for any changes that need <br />to occur. Staff has already begun to take <br />reservations and complete requests for field use. <br />OUTDOOR REC <br />GRANTS: Director Saarion reviewed the two grants that will <br />be submitted with Commission recommendation and <br />Council approval. One is the development of golf <br />course park area for nature observation and trails <br />and the other is the purchase of two lots in the <br />south west side of the City for neighborhood park. <br />The Commission agreed that both these projects <br />follow their goals. <br />PEDESTRIAN <br />BRIDGE: Director Saarion updated the Commission regarding <br />the two grants for the installation of a <br />pedestrian bridge across Highway 10. The <br />Commission was in full agreement that this is <br />needed and support the grant submission. <br />
