CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES <br />Thursday, August 25, 1994 <br />City Hall, 6:30.p.m. <br />CALL TO <br />ORDER: Chairperson Burmeister called the meeting to <br />order. <br />PRESENT: Commissioners present included Chair Burmeister, <br />Commissioners Silvis, Stevenson, and Starr. Also <br />present were Councilmember Trude and Director <br />Saarion. <br />Commissioners absent were Trettel, Long and Dentz. <br />MINUTES: Commissioner Silvis made a motion to approve the <br />minutes of June 23, 1994. Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Stevenson. Motion passed. <br />WOODCREST <br />PARK: The park visit to Woodcrest Park was canceled due <br />to the severe weather. Discussion regarding <br />Woodcrest Park were possibilities including taking <br />soil borings to determine soil conditions, having <br />the park surveyed for any need of additional soils <br />and leveling, and/or any need for soil corrections <br />so that the space could be used for a youth <br />athletic field. Commissioner Silvis made a motion <br />seconded by Chair Burmeister requesting staff to <br />pursue avenues for this work to be done. Motion <br />passed. <br />LINEAR PARK <br />IDEA: Staff presented a possible park design for land <br />available in the south west section of the <br />community. The land is very narrow and long - <br />therefore the reference as linear park design. <br />The Commission reviewed the design and decided <br />that since the community is so against the idea of <br />a park in this area, that efforts are better spent <br />on upgrading Woodcrest Park. <br />UPDATES: Director Saarion updated the Commission on <br />projects including the options for Silver View <br />Park ditch traverse, sidewalk along Silver Lake <br />Road and LAWCON needs for Greenfield Park. <br />The CDBG project for installation of bathrooms at <br />Hillview and Groveland Park buildings was also <br />
