MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> Thursday, June 22 , 1995 <br /> 6 : 30 p.m. , City Hall <br /> CALL TO <br /> ORDER: Chair Burmeister called the meeting to order. <br /> ROLL CALL: Commissioners present: Starr, Burmeister, Dentz , <br /> Silvis. Councilmember Quick and Director Saarion <br /> were also present. <br /> MINUTES : The minutes of March 23 and April 27 were approved <br /> unanimously. <br /> LTFP: Director Saarion reviewed the updated 1996 <br /> proposed LTFP with the Commission. Discussion <br /> regarding priorities ensued. It was determined <br /> that safety concerns should be a priority for park <br /> improvements. Woodcrest Park improvements are a <br /> • priority, but it is realized that if grant monies <br /> are not awarded, Woodcrest Park improvement <br /> priority would be repair of the building. The <br /> Pedestrian Bridge is also a priority of the <br /> Commission. Other replacement needs including <br /> playground equipment, picnic tables and trash <br /> receptacles are a priority. The motion to approve <br /> these priority park long term needs was made by <br /> Wayne Burmeister and seconded by Scott Dentz . <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> GOALS : Director Saarion reviewed the Commission ' s 1995 <br /> goals. The Commission acknowledged commitment to <br /> these goals, however, understood that these goals <br /> may not be accomplished this year. <br /> The Pedestrian Bridge was of special interest of <br /> the Commissioners. They were very distressed to <br /> hear that the project was not forwarding, that <br /> funding was not dedicated to this project. They <br /> asked what could be done to forward the project_ <br /> Councilmember Quick suggested that they get the <br /> word out to other residents and come to a City <br /> Council meeting and express their concerns. Also, <br /> letter writing campaigns were suggested. <br /> Commissioners discussed was of getting the word <br /> IIMout to other people of the community. <br /> Commissioners will continue to advocate for the <br /> Pedestrian Bridge. <br />
