• MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RAMSEY COUNTY <br /> MINUTES <br /> Thursday, January 25, 1996 <br /> 6: 30 p.m. , City Hall <br /> CALL TO <br /> ORDER: Chairperson Burmeister called the meeting to <br /> order. <br /> ROLL CALL: Members present included Chair Burmeister, <br /> Commissioners Silvis, Starr, Stevenson and Long. <br /> Commissioner Dentz was absent due to coaching a <br /> basketball game. Councilmember Trude was present <br /> along with staff members Forester Wriskey and <br /> Director Saarion. <br /> MINUTES : Commissioner Silvis made a motion seconded by <br /> Commissioner Stevenson to approve the December 7, <br /> 1995 minutes. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> FORESTRY <br /> REPORT: Forester Wriskey played a video which explained <br /> the new vibratory plow procedure that hopes to <br /> save diseased oak trees from infecting other <br /> nearby trees. Rick also explained the ice damage <br /> brush and branch pick-up program. Brochures and <br /> information material was distributed regarding elm <br /> and oak disease as well as other diseases of <br /> trees, and damage due to drought and bark <br /> injuries. Rick informed the Commission of the past <br /> year' s statistics of trees planted and trees <br /> removed. He shared with them the grants which <br /> were received in 1994-95 for replacing diseased <br /> boulevard trees. <br /> BEL RAE <br /> FOR SALE: Director Saarion shared information regarding the <br /> sale of the Bel Rae and the possible purchase by <br /> the City for a Community Center. City <br /> Councilmember Trude asked for the Commissioners ' <br /> opinions regarding the project. Commissioners <br /> were very excited about the possibilities of <br /> services for the community - located at the Bel <br /> • Rae. <br /> Commissioner Silvis made a motion, seconded by <br /> Commissioner Long to recommend that the City <br />
