• MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RAMSEY COUNTY <br /> MINUTES <br /> Thursday, May 23, 1996 <br /> 7:10 p.m., Conf. Room C, City Hall <br /> Commissioners met at Oakwood Park and walked the path to Greenfield Park. <br /> CALL TO ORDER: <br /> Chair Burmeister called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. <br /> ROLL CALL: <br /> Commissioners present included Chair Burmeister, Commissioners Silvis, Gunn, Long and <br /> Stevenson. Director Saarion was also present. <br /> MINUTES: <br /> Commissioner Silvis made a motion to approve the minutes of April 25, 1996, seconded by <br /> Commissioner Stevenson. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> SAFETY FENCING: <br /> Director Saarion proposed that the City Council consider fencing options for Hillview and <br /> Groveland Park - since it is a 1996 goal of the Commission to provide safety fencing at these two <br /> youth athletic fields. It was agreed by Commissioners that the addition of 10 ` high fencing from <br /> the backstop just beyond the first and third base overthrow area would provide additional <br /> prevention of overthrown and wild throws that tend to go out into the streets. Commissioner <br /> Silvis made a motion to approve the plans and fencing for Hillview and Groveland Parks to made <br /> the fields more safe for youth participants. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Gunn. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. Staff will pursue the implementation of this goal with Park <br /> Dedication funding. <br /> BIKE SAFETY DAY: <br /> Director Saarion reviewed the plans for the Bike Safety Day to be held at City Hall Saturday, <br /> June 1. Several Commissioners Sherry Gunn, Frank Silvis, Pam Starr and Gary Stevenson <br /> volunteered to help. Cathy Bednar and Mary Saarion will be staff members, and Greg Frausone, <br />
