Park and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes <br />May 23, 2001 <br />Roll Call: Jerold Kahn late to meeting <br />Tony Zuk, absent <br />Approval of March minutes: Tabled <br />New Business: <br />a) Jeanette Cameron, YMCA, explained the Aquatics program, reviewed <br />programming, committee minutes, program attendance, teen night. Motion <br />by Coughlin, second by Long to eliminate Park Concerts from the <br />programs due to lack of funding. Unanimously approved. <br />Unfinished Business: <br />a) Report of Greenfield Park Committee. Reservations will be made on <br />weekly basis for maximum of 2 days per week; 1.75 min. <br />b) Questions on responsibility for Edgewood fields; staff will inquire upon. <br />c) Motion made by Gunn, second by Kroeger asking for City Council to <br />clarify if funds could be allocated start a survey process. Unanimously <br />approved. <br />d) Couglin explained email of April 18, 2001 to Council, Mayor, <br />Administrator and requested discussion. Couglin motioned, second by <br />Long, to continue the Focus Group for the YMCA, but continue it under <br />MV CC/YMCA Focus Group and to officially recognize this committee as <br />such. Unanimously approved. <br />Commissioners/Staff Reports: <br />a) Dazenski reported on Woodcrest Park tasks. The Lionesses are <br />donating a park bench and so is the Garden Club. <br />b) Ulrich spoke about the landscaping of the Greenfield Park Pond <br />project. Excerise equipment at the Community Center. TKDA <br />working on plans and specs for Hillview Park Shelter. <br />C) Szczepanski inquired on the fence at Silver View Soccer field. <br />Dazenski replied it would be installed this summer. <br />d) Jim Ericson, Community Development Director, spoke regarding <br />the Highway 10 Redevelopment and requested volunteers or <br />steering committee. (Couglin, Gunn, Kroeger volunteered.) <br />e) Coughlin inquired on obtaining a copy of the YMCA contract <br />(actually everyone in the Park and Recreation Committee) so that <br />the committee can review the contract. Ie Review yearly contract <br />and obligations (operations, financial, community assessment). <br />Szczepanski motioned, Kroeger seconded. NOTE: Final vote was <br />not taken. <br />Next Meeting: YMCA Contract Reviewal/Comments. <br />Silvis motioned, Long seconded to adjourn meeting. (7:54pm) <br />
