• Community Center — Parking lot will need to be redesign. Cars overhang
the sidewalk.
• Lee explained the process for the needs list: First identify all the needs
then place in one of three categories:
Short Term Needs — Needs that can be addressed inrrnediately or this year.
Intermediate Needs - Needs that can be recommended for the 2004 budget.
Long Term Needs — Needs that will be included / recommended for the
City's Capital Improvement Program.
• Szczepanski asked about the effectiveness of painting the playground
equipment. Danzenski said this is basically not effective.
• Lee explained that once the items are identified, Danzenski will determine
the best way to address the need and will also determine a cost. The
Commissioners will then review the list of needs and compare their cost
effectiveness.
• There was a general discussion on playground equipment replacement.
Danzenski explained the process.
• Greenfield — Kroeger brought up the issue of foul balls along third
baseline at Greenfield — add netting to the list.
• Groveland — Building replacement. Use the design of Hillview. Then only
site preparation work would need to be done in 2004.
• The CIP items can be re -assigned a time schedule based on the
Commission recommendations.
• Lambert Park — add carpeting (or some sort of floor covering) to the needs
list.
• Oakwood — add No Littering signage? Determine the feasibility of
creating a soccer field.
• Random Park — Railing and concrete pads are already identified.
• Silver View Park — Pond: Steve Danzenski is putting together options to
treat the algae growth in the pond. This information will be presented to
the City Council.
• Non -Site Specific Items - Kroeger asked about the condition of the
pathways around Silver View.
• Vandalism at Silver View. Szczepanski asked if the park could be gated.
Dazenski recommended against it. It would slow police response time.
• Edmond offered a web site of a company that sells cameras and monitors.
These could be placed in problem areas to reduce graffiti and vandalism
issues.
• In the next several weeks, if commissioners have any additions to the
needs list they should contact Lee.
5. Commissioner/Staff Reports
• Chapter 405 of City Code — Ordinance No. 714, Recommended
changes made by the Commissioners. This was introduced and first
read on April 28, 2003. Second Reading and approval on May 12,
2
