Park and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes <br />June 26, 2003 <br />Meeting Called to order: <br />1. Roll Call: <br />Present: Edmond, Long, Silvis, Kunz, Mandoza, Lee, Dazenski, Steeves <br />Absent: Szczepanski, Kroeger, <br />2. Approval of May 22, 2003 Meeting Minutes: <br />Motion to accept <br />Motion: <br />2°d: <br />Motion unanimously passed <br />Cliff Ash, a resident in the Silver View Park area spoke to the Commission. Mr. Ash had <br />three issues to point out to the Commission regarding Silver View Park / Pond: <br />1. Purple loostrife weed has infiltrated around Silver View Pond. <br />2. The pathway around the pond need to be seal coated / rehabilitated. <br />3. There are a lot of animals around pond that he has photographed: muskrats, <br />herons, rabbits, wood ducks, crane... "Not treating this pond is turning it into <br />a marshland." <br />Mr. Ash gave information on a company that treats nutrient rich ponds. Mr. Ash also <br />noted that in there is a 1990 plan that calls for the periodic testing of Silver View Pond. <br />Mr. Ash suggested that the City conduct a survey on the usage of the City's parks. He <br />also suggested that the Facility Guide be updated and republished. Mr. Lee informed Mr. <br />Ash of the Park Commissioner's efforts to conduct a survey, and the plans to update the <br />Facility Guide. <br />3. Unfinished Business: <br />a) Parks Needs Analysis <br />The Commissioners review the master Needs List for the City. Steve <br />Dazenski, Parks Foreman, read each of the identified parks needs listed and suggested <br />one of three categories to place it in (1. Maintenance item that can be done now, 2. <br />budgeted item, or 3. a long term item that would be placed in the Capital <br />Improvement Program (CIP). <br />SEE UPDATED LIST <br />
