Park, Recreation, and Forestry Commission Meeting Minutes <br />July 27, 2006 <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Call to order 6:37 p.m. <br />Roll Call: Present: Kroeger, Kunz, Aukee, Palm, Arel, Dazenski, Weldon <br /> Absent: Kunza, Long, Lee, McIntyre <br /> <br />2. Swear in new member (Gerald Arel) <br /> <br /> Approval of minutes from the June 22, 2006 meeting. <br /> Motion by Aukee, 2nd by Kunz to approve minutes. Passes 5-0 <br /> <br />4. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners on issues of concern. NONE <br /> <br />5. YMCA Update: Many residents are not receiving the Mounds View Matters with the Sun Focus newspaper. Registration deadline for fall soccer is August 4th. Playground Program Family <br /> Night is July 31st. Adult softball is also wrapping up. There are 5 co-ed teams that play at the City Hall Park through the YMCA programming, and 5 men’s recreational teams that pay <br /> $10 for field rental <br /> <br />6. Unfinished Business: <br />Oakwood Park Proposal Presentation by Steve Dazenski. Soccer field is wearing at Silverview Park and needs rest for reseeding bi-annually. Suggested putting 2 soccer fields with a playground <br /> in the southeast corner of the south side of Oakwood near the shade trees and homes. This gives an opportunity to run the fields North-South one year and East-West the next if needed <br /> for “resting” goal areas. Cost estimations as follows: <br />Irrigation: $19,500 <br />Grading and Elevation: $15,000-20,000 <br />Playground: $14,700 to include swings, merry-go-round, rocking/spring apparatus, and playground <br />Border/Fiberfill: $6,000 <br />Trash receptacle: $800 <br />Picnic tables: $1200 <br />Seed and Fertilizer <br />Fencing $ <br />TOTAL $71,700 <br /> <br />North Side of Oakwood would include: <br />Removing existing playground and rerouting the trail off of Quincy. Making this a “passive park” <br />Berms: $1,000 <br />Tables and Benches: $1500 <br />Reroute trail: $2,000 <br />Disc Golf course: $2500-2800 <br />TOTAL: $13,100 <br /> <br />
