<br />Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting Minutes <br />November 16, 2006 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />1. Call to Order: 6:41 P.M. <br />Roll Call: Kroeger, Kunz, Long, Arel, Palm, Kunza, Aukee <br />Staff Present: Lee, Dazenski, Weldon <br /> <br />2. Approval of minutes from the October 26, 2006 meeting. <br />nd <br /> Motion to approve by Aukee, 2 Long. Motion Passed 6-0 <br /> <br />3. Moment of silence for Frank Silvis, long-time Park, Recreation, and Forestry Commissioner who passed <br />away this past week. <br /> <br />4. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners <br />on issues of concern. NO residents present. <br /> <br />5. YMCA Update: Weldon. <br />*Skating season opening second week of Dec. weather permitting at Hillview, Lambert, and Groveland. <br />*Code of Conduct with Mounds View Sports Alliance for parents and youth participants. Effort between <br />area youth athletic associations and Mounds View School District ISD#621. <br /> <br />6. Adjustment in agenda. See item 8a: New Business: T-Mobile Proposal. <br /> <br />7. Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />a) Oakwood Park Proposal <br />Phase I <br />Staff has requested the City’s consultant to perform a simple survey the Oakwood field by <br />providing spot elevations to give to contractors for bidding/quote purposes. Any extra soil from <br />grading the soccer fields will be exported to the north side of Hillview to be used in berms. The <br />ag-lime on the baseball field will be reused to top dress unpaved trailways in the City. <br /> <br />This data will be made available to all parties interested in providing a quote on this project. <br />Quotes for other Phase I items such as irrigation, fencing, and seeding will be submitted to the <br />Commission for review along with the grading quotes. If this project proceeds, construction of <br />Phase I items is planned to commence first thing in the spring. <br /> <br />Phase II <br />Phase II is the creation of a playground area adjacent to the proposed soccer fields. <br />Direct Staff to get a design sketch for age 10 and under with swing set including 2 belts <br />and 2 bucket seats. <br /> <br />Phase III <br />Disc Golf - The City has received a proposal and general information from Michael Snelson of <br />Fairway Flyerz Discs, Inc. regarding the creation of the disc golf course. This proposal is <br />included in the packet. <br />Direct Staff to contact New Brighton about their disc golf usage/demand. <br />Direct Staff to get a sketch of a suggested map of a proposed course. <br /> <br /> <br />
