<br />Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting Minutes <br />April 26, 2007 <br /> <br />1. Call to Order: 6:32 PM <br /> Roll Call: Aukee, Kunz, Long, Arel, Peterson (arrived 6:35), Palm, (arrived 7:30) <br /> <br /> Staff Present: Dazenski, Lee, Weldon <br /> <br />nd <br />2. Approval of minutes from the March 15, 2007 meeting. Motion by Aukee, 2 by Arel to approve <br />minutes. Motion Passed 4-0 <br /> <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners <br />on issues of concern. NO residents present <br /> <br />4. YMCA Update: Weldon <br />th <br /> New Program Director for the YMCA - Pat Prindle, will be starting on April 30 <br />nd <br />Bike Helmet fitting program - May 22 4pm to 7pm, $10 charge for helmet and fitting at MVCC. <br />Senior Day in the Park – June at Silver View Park <br />Track program to start next week <br />th <br />Registration for summer programs are now being accepted - Summer Soccer and T-ball. May 4 is the <br />deadline to register. <br />Park Rentals – still have openings - $45 ½ day and $90 for full day for Mounds View Residents <br /> <br /> <br />5. Unfinished Business: <br />a.) Oakwood Park Proposal <br />Phase I <br />Contract awarded to Peterson Companies. Grading activities to start next week. Contractor will <br />start with tilling the soil. Commissioner Aukee asked if information on this park rehabilitation <br />can be placed on website. (NOTE: currently no webmaster – this may take time) <br /> <br />Phase II <br />Phase II is the creation of a playground area adjacent to the proposed soccer fields. The <br />Commission had previously made a motion recommending “Recess Time II” in earth tone <br />colors. Staff is currently waiting on ordering this. There is the possibility of ordering this <br />playground equipment along with the equipment for Hillview Park. This will save on shipping <br />and perhaps allow the City to continue to get the discount. <br /> <br />Phase III <br />Disc Golf – The Commission has a motion recommend the design of an 18-Hole course by <br />Mike Snelson from Fairway Flyerz. Contracts have been executed. Mr. Snelson is currently <br />working on the course layout. He has taken GPS readings and some pictures of the area. He will <br />be making arrangements to have our City Forester meet with him on site. The purpose of this <br />meeting is to determine how to keep the impact on trees and vegetation to a minimum. <br />th <br />Hopefully have a preliminary plan available at the May 24 meeting for review and comments <br />by the Commissioners. Rick Wrisky will be on vacation the first part of May for two weeks. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
