ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Kunz, Kroeger, Arel, Aukee, <br />Staff: Dazenski, DeBar | YMCA: Danielson <br />3. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br />A. Oath of Office for Commission Members (Arel, Aukee) Long not present <br />4. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion Kroeger, second Arel Approved <br />5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion Kroeger, second Arel Approved <br />A. December 15, 2011 Meeting Minutes <br />6. PUBLIC INPUT <br />None <br />7. YMCA REPORT – Many programs full, opening more session, offering sampler classes prior to <br />first week. Zumba has new instructor, Senior bingo has been popular. Club med went to feed <br />my starving children. New layout in Mounds View Matters, Spring classes and Summer <br />programming will be in next issue. Adding Lacrosse and sports Sampler. Swimming will offer <br />lap swimming punch card. Music in the park is accepting band applications, has been very <br />popular, looking for some community input for bands. Reservation online is up and working. <br />BBC suggestions, looking for Lacrosse Kit, $300-$500, also looking for a pottery wheel, and <br />some type of internal marketing system - monitor to display upcoming events. <br />8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Discuss Bikeway and Walkway System – We are to review and get more feedback, John <br />will compare new plan with the 1992 plan and look for any conflicts. Dale has question for <br />Nick, Are will soon enough to look at trailway plans before this summer area E street <br />project. The sidewalk will be on county H right of way, so have to coordinate with county. <br />We do have time for planning of area F for next summer. We are looking at full reclamation <br />of path around Silverview Pond. 8 feet is the minimum width for shared use trailway. Dale <br />suggested staff get some input from Police Dept on shared use. <br />B. Discuss Ice Hockey and Skating Rink Improvements at Hillview Park. Ajacent homeowner <br />is receptive to new rink plan, will meet with homeowner. Hopefully get cost estimate for next <br />meeting. <br />9. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Review Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan – Rick Wriskey spoke about Emerald Ash <br />Borer. Shoreview reported find of EAB just ¼ mile from Mounds View city limits. Began <br />survey of nearby neighborhood, found 2 trees that showed signs, called MN Department of <br />Agriculture, found those were native ash borer. Quarantine of Ramsey and Hennipen for <br />transfer of Ash. Overview, need to educate public. Rick had map showing 1 mile radius, 40 <br />percent of Mound View boulevard ash trees are in this zone. Trailer park is almost all Ash. <br />We have applied for grant funds for removal and replacement of trees. There are several <br />ash trees that we may be able to replace with state funds. The 3 areas are Public Park <br />Lands, Boulevard Areas, and private trees. This is not unlike Dutch Elm disease. We have <br />been removing any weak, damaged, or undesirable trees as part of our ongoing
