PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. I DECEMBER 14, 2017 1 MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING Minutes <br />1. CALL TO ORDER 6:34 pm <br />2. ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, *Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Rundle, <br />Staff: Peterson I YMCA: Thomas <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA — Add 8 d, Elect Chair - unanimous <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. November 16, 2017 approved 5-0-1 <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT - None <br />6. STAFF REPORTS A. YMCA — Winter Registration now open, Dale had a question about the <br />rise in revenue, this was because of rise in participation in Summer programs, sports leagues, <br />and classes, looking forward to advanced basketball training. See attached <br />B. Public Works / Forestry — Sent messages to homeowners who have diseased trees. Working <br />on getting a temporary Forester — See Attached <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Forestry — City Parks, and Green Spaces — General discussion <br />on inclusion of IAS and references to ordinances. <br />8. NEW BUSINESS: A. Greenfield / Groveland tennis courts — Received specs for courts, Going <br />to open for bids, decided no need for sidewalks or special holes and poles for pickleball. <br />B. Random Park — Vandalism Repairs — Glass broken in tall window next to door, decided to <br />have replaced with Y2 wall built to match and smaller window. <br />C. City Hall Park — Discussion on what to do with the area that is now the playground after new <br />playground is built. The conclusion was to just put grass there for now, and take a look at it on <br />the May Park Tour. <br />D. Elect Chair — Gerald Arel agreed to be chair for 2018 and he appointed Rundle to Vice Chair <br />and Cindy will continue as secretary. <br />9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS — John noted that the sidewalk on the north side of Mounds <br />View Boulevard will be extended to the new apartments being built between Groveland and <br />Spring Lake Road. The city is looking at extending the sidewalk on the south side from CVS to <br />Knollwood. Gerald noted there will be a presentation for Dave Long at the Jan 8th City Council <br />Meeting at 6:30. <br />ADJOURNMENT — 7:30 — Motion by Aukee second by Katovich, <br />Next Regular Commission Meeting: January 25, 2018 6:30pm <br />
