PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | FEBRUARY 24, 2022 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:33 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Arel, Anderson Lillemo, Palm, Sullivan, Wake Wiesner <br />Commissioners Appointed- Need Oath of Office – New Appointment – Nelson <br /> Staff: Peterson | Thomas *to be absent <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Sullivan, 2nd by Palm. Passed 5-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: January 27, 2021: Motion to approve by Wake Wiesner, 2nd by Sullivan. <br />Motion Passed 5-0 <br />5. SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />A. Oath of office for Appointed Commissioner Nelson- by Don Peterson. Nelson not present <br />6. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and <br />address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present <br />7. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. Parks and Recreation – Andy Thomas: See attached report. Update on Civic Rec website and <br />registration. Use for MVCC and park building rentals, too! <br />B. Public Works – Don Peterson: See attached report: Furnace at Groveland Park Building went out and <br />will be replaced in March. <br />8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. City Hall Park – Update Challenge Course, YALP features: Commissioners should look over the <br />provided information and be prepared to come back in March to discuss. <br />9. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Interactive nature and/or book walks-Silverview, Greenfield, Woodcrest Park: City Staff discussed this <br />with the local library. Could also get “playtrail signs” (MN/WI Playground) to share nature facts. More <br />info to come. Ramsey County Library will be doing story time and want city vehicles to make an <br />appearance. <br />B. Coach of the Year: Reviewed the candidates. Motion to nominate Candidate #1 by Wake Wiesner, <br />2nd by Sullivan. Motion Passed 5-0. <br />10. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Palm: Irondale High School KnightKrawler Robotics Team 2052 Week <br />Zero event Irondale Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9-4. FREE. Concessions and about $2500 in raffle prizes. <br />11. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS <br />12. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn 7:28 PM by Palm, 2nd by Arel. Motion Passed 5-0 <br /> Next Regular Commission Meeting: March 24, 2022
