PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | OCTOBER 27, 2022 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:30 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Anderson, Arel, Lillemo, Palm, Mills, Sullivan, Wake Wiesner <br /> Staff: Peterson | Thomas *to be absent <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Lillemo. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />September 22, 2022: Motion to approve by Lillemo, 2nd by Sullivan. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and <br />address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. Mike Hodges, oldest son of the Hodges family, <br />read a letter on behalf of the family thanking the Commission for moving to change the name of <br />Random Park to Hodges Park in honor of Don and Amy Hodges. This item will be going forward to <br />City Council on November 14, 2022. <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. Parks and Recreation - Andy: See attached report. Hired Angie Gornik as Rec Coordinator. Other <br />positions posted. <br />B. Public Works – Don: See attached report. Kris Paulseth was hired as the City Arborist and will begin <br />work on November 21, 2022. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Greenfield Playground – Other features: Keeping climbing wall, merry-go-round, balance beam, and <br />green dinosaur. Need to replace swing set and tot lot. Previously discussed adding a shaded table. <br />Motion by Lillemo to recommend to City Council that we go with Option 2 to add to Greenfield <br />Park playground with the new incoming playground, and add shaded picnic tables with “multi <br />sail squares” in colors lilac and sky. 2nd by Wake Wiesner. Motion Passed 7-0. <br />B. Review IBL Ball Field Improvement Requests: Postpone discussion until November with cost for <br />fencing up to 75 feet rather than 65 feet. <br />8. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Review Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Applications – (2 <br />seats, 2023-2026): and two applications. Motion by Lillemo to recommend that both applicants <br />move forward to City Council for approval. 2nd by Mills. Motion Passed 6-0. Palm abstain. <br />B. Review 2023 Meeting Schedule: Motion by Palm to approve meeting schedule for 2023, 2nd by <br />Mills. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: NONE <br />10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS: November MVCC expansion will be <br />the only item on the agenda. <br />11. Next Regular Commission Meeting: November 17, 2022 at 6: 30 PM <br />12. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn at 7:18 PM by Palm, 2nd by Lillemo. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />
