RESOLUTION 9701 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />DECLARATION OF COMMITMENT TO ACT FOR EQUALITY FOR ALL AND TO WORK <br />TOWARDS EQUITY AND JUSTICE IN MOUNDS VIEW <br />AND <br />CREATION OF A HUMAN RIGHTS TASK FORCE <br />WHEREAS, Council has been and continues to recognize the diversity of our <br />residents and that it continues to grow; and <br />WHEREAS, Council recognizes the challenges and complexities accompanying this <br />growth; and <br />WHEREAS, Council has been very intentional and purposeful in education and <br />exploration of the issues and has been thoughtful in ensuring substantive education and <br />exploration, including a series of additional workshops in previous years to better understand <br />the issues and challenges, and <br />WHEREAS, Council has been discussing some type of public position and avenue to <br />continue addressing the complexity and challenges related to equity and equality. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds <br />View, Ramsey County, that we make a Declaration of commitment to act for Equality for all <br />and to work towards Equity and Justice in Mounds View as detailed in Attachment A. <br />Furthermore, Council resolves to direct staff to take the necessary steps to form a <br />Human Rights Task Force whose responsibilities and goals will be include but be limited to <br />those detailed in Attachment B. <br />Lastly, that the Task Force make a determination and recommendation on permanency <br />to the City Council no later than December 1, 2024. <br />Adopted this 13t" Day of February, 2023 <br />Al Hull, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator <br />(SEAL) <br />
